Christmas Presents For Gardeners

I thought I'd use my blog for a bit of shameless self promotion and show a few of my products I've got for sale on Etsy at the moment. 

My potting trays have been really popular and come in a few different sizes.


 

And the same with my seed boxes. 

There are some other items in my shop and I can make things to order when it's not quite so busy! 

All these items are made by me, not shipped in from somewhere else and "personalised". I also put a free packet of seeds (bagged up by my children) in with every purchase!

I've been working as hard as one of Father Christmas's Elves these last few weeks trying to make stock to sell via Etsy and other means.  I thought I'd put a few in a post here just encase people didn't know what I made or sold.  My most popular item is my range of potting trays. Ideal for mixing up compost or filling pots and trays. I do four different sizes off the shelf and also make some to order (although not now before Christmas: Medium - 40cm x 58cm Large - 54cm x 58cm Jumbo - 54cm x 78cm Jumbo Shallow - 40cm x 78cm I also make a range of seed boxes. Ideal to organise your seed collections in.  For these I make some with new timber and hand carve the word "SEEDS" on the front of each one. I then cut the hinges in by hand and finish them with two coats of Danish oil. Own Meat Birds Get A Step Closer

 So with some really poor hatch rates from posted eggs I decided that it was time to buy a few hens so we could actually start to hatch out our own eggs. I already have some fine Indian Game cockerels to run with them.  There is a Facebook group about rearing meat for the table and through that I got in contact with someone who had some young Indian Game pullets for sale. So I took a trip into deepest darkest Wales (via a small saw mill that had some specialist timber I was after) to buy some!  Of course I ended up buying more than just this!  He sold a trio of Plymouth Rock Hens, which when crossed with an Indian Game will produce a great meat bird (And this cross was used in the orginal Chicken Of Tomorrow competition so I have high hopes). I also got 4 Indian Game POL pullets so I should be able to keep a pure flock of these going as well.
